BREAKING: Following a meeting of the Senate Republican Caucus earlier today, President Pro Tempore Sen. Rod Bray announced that his caucus did not have the votes for redistricting and the Senate will not convene in December.
What they’re saying: “Over the last several months, Senate Republicans have given very serious and thoughtful consideration to the concept of redrawing our state’s congressional maps. Today, I’m announcing there are not enough votes to move that idea forward, and the Senate will not reconvene in December.”
What’s next: We anticipate knowing more about the schedule for the upcoming legislative session on Tuesday, November 18th, which is Organization Day (the ceremonial first day of session) for the General Assembly. We will reach out with more details next week.
