Membership Investment Update – Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the Plainfield Chamber changing its membership investment structure?
The Chamber is simplifying its membership model by reducing 13 membership levels to 4 clear and transparent investment tiers. This new structure makes it easier for members and prospective members to understand their investment while ensuring fairness and consistency across similar business types.
Membership investments have remained unchanged for the past 6 years, despite rising operating costs and significant growth in Chamber programs, events, advocacy efforts, and member services. This adjustment allows the Chamber to continue delivering high-quality programming and investing in initiatives that support our members and the Hendricks County business community. In some instances, through this reclassification, member dues will be decreased and go into effect on their next renewal.
The new membership tiers become effective for all new members on August 13, 2026.
For existing members, the new investment levels will be implemented beginning with renewal dates on or after January 1, 2027.
For most membership categories, no.
Existing members will transition gradually over a three-year period:
- Community Members: $10 increase per year
- Small Business Members: $20 increase per year
- Small Corporate Members: $45 increase per year
Large Corporate Members will transition to the new investment level at their renewal date beginning January 1, 2027.
The new membership structure becomes the Chamber’s standard investment model beginning August 13, 2026. Existing members are receiving a phased implementation as a courtesy in recognition of their continued support.
Your membership tier is determined by the type and size of your organization. Chamber staff will review each membership to ensure that it is placed in the appropriate category and will gladly answer any questions regarding classification.

Over time, the Chamber’s membership structure had grown to 13 different investment categories, making it more difficult for members to understand and for staff to administer consistent aid. The new four-tier model provides greater clarity, transparency, and simplicity while remaining equitable across business types.
